We Believe
God is bigger, better and closer than we can imagine.
The Bible is God’s Word in print.
Jesus is God the Son, our Lord and Savior.
Salvation is available to everyone–through faith in Jesus.
Through His Holy Spirit, God lives in and through believers now.
Nothing in creation “just happened.” God made it all.
Grace is the only way to have a relationship with God.
Faith is the only way to grow in our relationship with God.
Salvation makes us members of the body of Christ.
Christianity is a relational lifestyle of community, faith and love.
Our faith is personal, not private.
Baptism (by immersion) is an initial act of discipleship
and an outward symbol of an inward miracle.
Communion is the way Jesus asked us to remember His sacrifice for us on the cross.
God allows evil to provide us with a choice. God can bring good even out of evil events, and God promises victory over evil to those who trust Him.
Heaven and Hell are real places. Death is a beginning, not the end.
The Church is to love and serve people the way Jesus loved and served people.
Jesus is coming again
We believe (expanded)
We believe in one God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 5:16,45; 6:1,4,8,9; James 1:17/John 1:1; 14:9 / Genesis 1:2; John 4:24; 14:16-20; 2 Peter 1:21)
We believe in Jesus Christ
There is one Lord, God's Son, Jesus Christ, over the church,
so Christ is the church's ultimate authority in all things.
Jesus Christ is God’s one and only Son, our one and only Savior.
(John 1:14; 1 John 4:9 / John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:18)
He was born Jesus of Nazareth, both fully human and fully divine,
conceived of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary.
(Matthew 21:11; John 19:19 / John 1:14; Romans 5;15-17;
Colossians 2:9; 1 John 1:1 / Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:26-38)
He suffered and was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
(Luke 23:1-46)
He died and was buried, and rose again bodily from the dead on the third day
(Luke 23:44 – 24:8; John 20:24-29; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8)
He ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father,
interceding for those who trust Hm.
(Luke 22:69; Acts 1:1-9; Colossians 3:1)
He will return to earth to judge both the living and the dead.
(Matthew 24:36-42; John 14:1-3, Acts 1:10-11; 10:39-42; 1 Peter 4:5)
We believe in the Holy Spirit
He is an active and operative part of the triune God
(John 16:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27)
He indwells and actively works within every Christian. He equips believers with unique gifts that enable us to carry out the mission of Christ in the world. At the same time, the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in every believer (Galatians 5:22–23), which demonstrate the Spirit's presence within us.
(John 14-14; Romans 8:16; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; Ephesians 1:13; 2 Timothy 1:14)
We believe in the Bible
We believe God inspired the autographs (original writings)
of the Scripture and those autographs were consequently without error
(Mark 12:36; John 14:26; 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
We accept the Bible as the final authority for all matters of faith.
(Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18; 24:35; Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12)
We believe in the sinfulness of mankind
The Bible teaches that man, created by God, willfully sinned against God
and is consequently lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ
(Genesis 3, Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23)
We believe in salvation
We believe that salvation–the forgiveness of sin and the total restoration of one’s relationship with God—is available to everyone by grace (God’s unmerited favor), because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John 1:7)
We believe that one receives God’s grace (unmerited favor), not by any human efforts
or religious activities, but solely by receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
(John 3:16, 14:6, Acts 4:12)
The Bible describes how we receive Jesus as Savior and Lord using words like “repent” (Acts. 3:19), “confess” (Romans 10:9-10), “believe” (John 3:16, Romans 10-9-10) and “faith” (Ephesians 2:8).
We believe that Salvation makes us members of the body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:13) We believe that the church is composed of every person who has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. We enter into the life of the church, not by joining a denomination or a human organization, but by committing our lives to Christ.
